Movie Review

Crazy Beautiful You is a Star Cinema romantic film about an estranged daughter and her mother attempting to patch things up and an unexpected romance that came along the way. Jacky (Kathryn Bernardo) joins her mother (Lorna Tolentino) in a medical mission where she meets Kiko (Daniel Padilla), the medical mission local coordinator and mayor's son. A series of events ensues that brings the two together showing that no matter how crazy life gets, love will always find a way to make it beautiful. To the movie trailer's credit (and probably the actual film itself), it does feature some awfully gorgeous cinematography or local (Philippine) scenic spots specifically in Capas, Tarlac where the film mostly shoot. It would be better if most of these cliched romantic films somehow incorporate the beauty of scenic Philippine hot spots which will also works well with promoting the country's tourism. Hey, it seems to work well with Koreans television shows and movies, so why not Filipino movies? at least it would actually be praised for actually showing something not seen before, right? During these past few years, I've learned to toned down a bit and maybe that is me maturing up, but it is still there. This movie is mostly targeted to the KathNiel, ABS-CBN, Star Cinema, and romantic movie fans and there is really no need as to why such films has to be made. Most are a sucker for these kinds of films, and it is alright. I just find myself smiling in a (laughing) silly way when Daniel Padilla delivered the line "Parang Ikaw" and Kathryn looked at him in a "really now" kind of expression in the trailer. I don't know if that's "kilig" (LOL) or me just finding it preposterous. The scene was just golden and is craving to be the default image of the Crazy Beautiful You trailer impression.
